Vintage BOSE 4401 SOLID STATE FOUR CHANNEL PREAMPLIFIER Serial Number 000753. This pre-amp can be used as a 4 discrete channel pre-amplifier, or decode records which have been SQ-Matrix or SQ-Logic encoded. That was a early analog encoding scheme for getting 4 channels of music to fit on 2 channels of a stereo phonograph. This unit has been sitting on a shelf in my garage for several years and had a quite a bit of dust on it. I brushed off the dust and cleaned the unit up a little so you could see the condition under the dust. Despite being stored in dry California environment, some screws look rusty and there is some minor pitting in the tin plating on the RCA jacks. There are some pitting on the brass knobs which look like they could be buffed out with some TLC. There are some scratches on the top and bottom of the case from other equipment. The grounding lug is broken, but a new one is easy to install as it is just a lug bolted to the case. The trim has a small mis-alignment in the front lower right corner (see picture). This unit has no feet. No Manual. Sold AS-IS
